The dark nebula was first recorded by e e barnard in 1893 using a long refractor and a single glass photo-plate. Things are a little easier these days, but this still need a lot of patience. Started with a fast telescope, but plucked up the patience to have a go with one of my own. Needed 2 nights to get anywhere near. I now want a 150 f4!
