Hillsborough 1989: accidental death?

Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, 15th. April 1989
Nottigham Forest : Liverpool

96 Liverpool supporters died, crushed against the fence and barriers at the Leppings Lane end of the ground. Entry to the ground was allowed to proceed uncontrolled.

Police chiefs in charge of controlling entry to the ground remained unaccredited with blame for the deaths. They described the Liverpool people as hooligans and drunks, accusing them among other things of urinating on the dead.

The Prime Minister at the time was satisfied with 96 counts of accidental death.

Today begins the inquest into what really happened. Let us hope we hear the truth on this occasion.
